SQL 2008 SSMS gripe: Calmed down now!

After being irritated enough by the non sorting of my source files in my SSMS project (See my previous Post) to actually dig into it for 5 minutes I found this handy fix.

Open up the project file in note pad and make the following change …

<LogicalFolder Name=”Queries” Type=”0″ Sorted=”false“>

… Yep, that’s right change the value of the Sorted attribute to “false”. SSMS will then assume the the project file is not sorted and sort the output when it’s displayed in solution explorer. I’m not sure why it couldn’t figure out the file that it created and it didn’t sort wasn’t sorted – Redmond moves in mysterious ways I guess.
